Porcine Cloning Process

Start your cloning journey with Trans Ova Genetics Advanced Technologies.

The Cloning Process: Step-by-Step

Welcome to the next frontier in advanced porcine reproduction. At Trans Ova Genetics Advanced Technologies, our cloning process is designed to give you unparalleled control over your breeding program. Whether you’re preserving the legacy of a standout animal or advancing your herd’s genetics, we’re here to make the journey seamless and successful. Below, you’ll find everything you need to know about how our cloning process works, from contracts to piglet delivery.

1. Define Your Goals
  • Determine the number of cloned animals you’d like to produce.
  • Choose your desired farrowing date for the cloned animals.
  • Calculate the down payment based on the number of transfers ordered.
2. Slotting Your Order
  • Once the contract and down payment are received, your order will be scheduled.
  • Note: The number of embryos implanted may vary depending on species, breed, sex, and cell line.
3. Embryo Creation and Implantation
  • Embryos will be created and implanted on the scheduled date.
  • An implant report will be sent to you after the procedure.
Monitoring and Updates
4. Monitoring Pregnancies
  • Pregnancies will be checked at 30 days if they are in Trans Ova recipients.
  • A pregnancy report will be provided.
  • If pregnancies fall short of the number ordered, additional embryos will be implanted.
5. Payment and Pickup
  • Piglets are weaned at 25 days of age. All fees must be paid before picking up weaned piglets.
  • Boarding cost for the sow begins on the day of farrowing at $10/day. After weaning the board fee is $10/day per piglet until they are picked up.
  • A minimum of 10 days’ notice is required to prepare health paperwork for each animal.
Important Policies
Facility Access and Biosecurity
  • To ensure biosecurity, no visitors are allowed at the porcine facility.
  • Photos and videos can be provided upon request.
  • No unannounced visitors are permitted at housing centers.
Termination of Contracts
  • Cloning contracts will be terminated if Trans Ova attempts implantation twice without success.
    • A termination letter will be issued in such cases.
  • Contracts may also be terminated if new information warrants it (e.g., genetic issues).
  • The down payment will be retained to cover production expenses on terminated contracts.
