Your guide to the Trans Ova Genetics Advanced Technologies genetic preservation and cloning processes.
Genetic Preservation Process
-
When a client orders a Genetic Preservation (GP) or an Express Tissue Bank (ETB), the GP or ETB contract and fee for that service must be completed and returned to the TOGAT Sales and Marketing Manager or Advanced Technologies Assistant. The kit will be sent to the client upon receipt of these items.
-
If it is an emergency, Trans Ova will send the kit but the GP and ETB contract and payment must be received prior to freezing of the cells (2 weeks).
-
The kit will be sent from the Trans Ova lab in Sioux Center, IA and returned to that lab. The kit will contain all the necessary equipment and instructions to take a sample, as well as a Styrofoam shipping container and shipping labels.
-
The instructions ask for 4 ear samples.
-
If an animal dies unexpectedly, to expedite the process, we suggest removal of the ear followed by immediate overnight priority shipment to the Sioux Center, IA lab. In this case, the GP and ETB contract and payment must be received prior to freezing (2 weeks).
-
Upon completion of cell culture, all clients will receive a letter confirming the freezing of their donor’s cells. At that time, they have the option to move forward with cloning or may choose to leave their cells in long term storage.
-
Approximately 3 – 10 million cells will be frozen for each sample and stored in two locations in biosecure areas.
-
The samples should be viable indefinitely under appropriate storage conditions. Storage will be billed in the anniversary month of the cell line or ETB. If the client decides to discard or transfer a cell line, a discard or transfer letter must be signed and returned prior to changing the disposition of the cell line.
